At times, does it seem to you that when you were living a lifeless life (a life without God), you were dating more and meeting more mate possibilities, or so we thought they were. Now that you are serving the Lord and waiting on Him for Mr. Right to come, it seems he is no where in sight.
After lengthy conversations with many of my single friends, whether having soloed by choice, a divorce or widowed, many have expressed their desire to be found by “Boaz” and the frustration of being single. Time seems to be passing by, for some the possibilities of having children seem slimmer, and not to mention the lonely times that try to creep upon you. And you ask, “What’s going on?” Temptations, of dating someone you know is not for you, begin to make special appearances in your mind. Well, while pondering this situation, it reminded me of the Israelites when they were grumbling in the dessert. They even went to the point of suggesting that perhaps they should return to the land they had left. They asked the question, “Wouldn’t it be better to go back to Egypt?”
Secretly, many of you may be experiencing this same pause or moment of silence. But, the answer is not returning to old ways or settling for second best. There are so many books written on being Christian and single, therefore I will not attempt to say I have the formula. But, I do know what Psalm 40:1-4 says, “I waited patiently upon the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the Lord. Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust…” Therefore we must wait patiently and trust that he will give us the desires of our heart.
Recently, I was at a red stoplight waiting for the green light to make a left turn. Several cars became impatient and turned right instead of left. The car in front remained there along with me. But, three seconds before the light turned he followed the same path others did and made a right to then make a U-turn. Guess what? By this time the light turned red on his end and he had to wait again. If he had only waited the three more seconds, he would have been on his merry way. Instead he ended up waiting longer. We too sometimes become impatient and with our complaining and murmuring end up waiting longer than we have to. Trust the Lord!
