Taught By An Angel

extremeby Tammi Ector Fisse

The dust from the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition construction of Akers Angels’ new home had settled, but the buzz surrounding the show being in our area for the demolition of the old house, the building of the new one and the dramatic homecoming reveal still filled the air of the community, the media and cyberspace. Two of the children have spinal muscular atrophy, a disease that robs them of mobility. Both use wheelchairs that restricted their movement around the old space-challenged split-level. The third child suffers from Crohn’s disease. Thanks to the show’s divine intervention, the house that imprisoned the children is a thing of the past. The new ADA-compliant one accommodates their special needs and liberates them as well.

Loved the article by Tammi Fisse. As a homemaker and mother of a special needs child, the article really hit home for me. I understand that there are others who have problems or hardships more than my own. However, sometimes we need to be reminded that things could always be worse. Thanks Tammi, for this article.

Ginger’s story as told by Tammi is very moving! God’s strength is truly shown through our weakness as we depend upon Him! I like how Tammi showed how Ginger’s story inspired some tangible changes in her own life! It reminds me as well, to look unto Jesus, not my own strength-which is small!

This was such a wonderful story, an inspiring one indeed! Tammi Ector Fisse’s approach to Ginger’s story is unique in the fact that she included her own struggles and described how it changed her life as well, which makes the story even more inspiring. It also reminds me to always keep a good response such as Ginger has, no matter what. Ginger is a remarkable woman, one that I will strive to be like!

Very well writen and uplifting story. I’m reminded that my everyday problems become just small challenges in the light of The Akers Family challenges. God is our strength!

Tammi Ector Fisse is a very gifted writer. With her keen insight, she inspires you to examine your own life. As I read the article, I asked myself, am I letting my “so called obstacles in life” prevent me from pressing in to be who I am called to be. I believe every reader will be inpired to lean on God for whatever their need is today.
Tammi, you truly are an inspriational writer. I look forward to hearing more from you!
