It’s A Slow Fade

Inspirational Ink: Insight for a Woman’s Life

Like most American girls my age (I’m now forty something), I grew up with Growing Pains. I don’t mean the ones that are a natural part of the teen years, but the TV sitcom starring Kirk Cameron. I don’t recall having a crush on him (with his dark hair and eyes Scott Baio AKA Chachi was more my type), but I was still thrilled when I learned several years ago that he’s now a Christian. I didn’t know that until he played the lead character in the Left Behind movie. Since then, it’s been awesome to watch him unapologetically act out his faith on the big screen in Fireproof and through his work with Ray Comfort (the book 23 Minutes in Hell). The song “Slow Fade” from the movie’s soundtrack is eerily powerful and describes the gradual process of giving in to temptation. Unlike many Hollywood child stars, Kirk hasn’t become a victim of the slow fade that puts so many young people on a fast track to destruction.
