This American born Latina, a self-described Nuyorican (New York Puerto Rican) is one to watch out for not only in Hollywood, but in the Kingdom of God. She is known for her role in the 2007 drama Freedom Writers, in which she played Eva, based on real-life high school student Maria Reyes. April grew up in the Bronx, New York where she describes her childhood as unique, growing up in an urban area where it was rare to see a two-parent family.
